1940s Silk Embroidered Matador Cape

Stunning and rare 1940s hand embroidered matador's cape from Spain. Hand embroidered front and back with an elaborate, colourful, floral design and trimmed in sequins throughout. The colours are truly amazing with a wonderful rich sheen. The neck is high and fastens with a hook and ties with a light gold cord tassel. It has a large back flap that extends to the front, giving it a cape within a cape effect. The material is heavy and drapes over the shoulders with no arm opening. The fit is on the smaller side. This is an amazing find and a truly wonderful collectors piece that would even work as decorative display piece.

Condition: This piece is in good condition considering its age with some missing sequins along the neckline and the odd faint mark and laddering along the bottom which is typical of capes and shawls of this age. Some mending has been done on the seams along the neckline and bottom inside lining. See last images.
